SKAN US: Process Validation Microbiology

Founded in 1968 as a trading company for Scandinavian laboratory equipment, SKAN is now global market leader in the specialist area of isolator construction for aseptic applications. One of our core competencies is the manufacturing of process isolators for pharmaceutical-aseptic production. Even the most complex customer requirements can be fulfilled thanks to the experts at our in-house laboratories who research innovative solutions for isolator technology. We currently employ around 800 employees with over 40 nationalities represented. SKAN’s global headquarters are near Basel, Switzerland.

SKAN US with currently about 40 employees and headquartered in Raleigh, NC, is providing services and spare parts to SKAN customers in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The Microbiologist will perform microbiological services for SKAN’s North American clients, e.g. develop and execute plans for cycle development, qualification and requalification testing for SKAN H2O2 decontamination products. Furthermore, the position will be a technical resource for SKAN US and SKAN globally for microbiology related tasks including, but not limited to, client technical support, technical process innovation, test method development, training, and industry presentations and publications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Microbiology or similar degree, advanced degree preferred
  • Laboratory, pharmaceutical microbiology, sterilization process qualification, and quality related documentation background strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and technical expertise related to H2O2 decontamination, QC Microbiology Lab operations, cGMP Standards, OSHA requirements, FDA and EU guidance related to aseptic production, USP and EP standards related to biological indicators and sterility testing are a plus.
  • Experience in requalification services and troubleshooting
  • Versed in setting up and following protocols and reports
  • Field Service experience with strong travel activity (nationally)
  • Valid Drivers license, passport
  • Safe handling of MS-Office
  • Fluent English, German skills are a plus
